Hong Kong people like street food and Shenzhen has a good choice.
Since the change of regulations in 2023 which allow street stalls business in designated areas, some large-scale night markets are well-developed in Shenzhen. They are not only delicious but also cheap, some of the environments are very nice, too.
Let's check out 4 great night markets in Futian and Bao'an Districts in Shenzhen, which are also easy to go by MTR.
Futian: Shuiwei Village Night Market
After crossing the Futian border, there is a large night market called "Shenzhen Shuiwei Village Night Market" nearby, which is definitely a delicious and beautiful place to go.
Shuiwei Village is one of the famous "urban villages" (城中村) in Shenzhen, located in just a few minutes' walk from Exit B of Futian Port MTR Station.
Shenzhen Shuiwei Village features unique Lingnan and Nanyang-style buildings, with areas like "Shuiwei 1368 Cultural Street" and "Shuiwei Street" adorned with lanterns.
It has become the first attraction for many Hong Kong residents to enjoy street food in Shenzhen.
The "Shenzhen Shuiwei Village Night Market" opens at 5 PM every day until midnight. The market is not very big but have a lot of stalls, of which many foods are Taiwan flavours.
So, you may have the feeling of being in Taiwan night markets. There, you can fill up your tummy as low as 50 RMB!
If you want to eat snacks, you must try the local delicacy of Northeast China, called Kaolengmian. ("grilled cold noodles") It is somewhat similar to Taiwanese egg crepes, with various fillings like seaweed, chicken fillet, cheese wrapped and grilled with a special sauce, then cut into pieces to serve. It’s not easy to eat in Hong Kong.
Taiwanese delicacies such as oyster omelets and taro balls are also best sales in here. A big piece of egg waffle costs only 8 RMB.
Other best sales like Yunnan-style grilled milk in earthen pots, which is fragrantly baked with ingredients like roses and osmanthus that are special and delicious.
Shenzhen Shuiwei Night Market
Location: Shuiwei Village, Futian District, Shenzhen
Transportation: 5-minute walk from Exit D of Fumin Metro Station on Line 4
Bao'an: Yantian Food Street
Located in Bao'an District, the Yantian Community Night Market Cultural Street has been operating for 18 years and has been a very popular late-night spot for food on Xiaohongshu.
It opens at 4 PM every day and operates until midnight. It always bustling with people around!
In about 400-meter-long food street, there are filled up with so many snack stalls that they are lined up closely one by one, which is the largest food street in Shenzhen.
The food are cheap and delicious, must-try foods include 1 RMB for Bobo Chicken (鉢鉢雞), 6 RMB for rib soup, 10 RMB for fruit salad. Others are seafood with mixed sauces, braised pig's feet, and spicy hot pot.
At the end of the street, there are stalls selling clothes, manicure, fresh flowers, perfumes, small accessories, don't forget to bargain.
Yantian Community Night Market Cultural Street
Location: Yantian Street, Xixiang, Bao'an District, Shenzhen
Transportation: Exit B, Xixiang Station, Line 1
Futian: COCO Park Rooftop Night Market
This night market is located on the rooftop of the COCO Park shopping centre, in which it is one of the places where Hong Kong people favourite to go. The environment is excellent.
There are not only snacks but also craft beer, cocktails, and even special stalls like tarot reading which make the area full of fun and chill.
Besides food, there are music and other shows here, you can simply have a drink and relax. Don't think that here is expensive, the average spending per person is around 100 RMB, and you can relax all night long.
After eating, there are also street performances in the basement of COCO Park, where young people sing and dance, which is surely the best place to spread the whole night.
COCO Park Rooftop Night Market
Location: Third floor platform, Galaxy COCO Park, Futian District

Futian: Niuxiangfang Chaoshan Night Market
If you want to eat Chaoshan raw pickled seafood, the Niuxiangfang Chaoshan Night Market is the best one to go.
There are a lot of Chaoshan delicacies in Futian District, and Niuxiangfang Chaosan Night Market is becoming very popular in recent years.
In about 300 meters long, there are more than 30 stalls and shops, most of which are specialize in Chaoshan flavours. They usually operate at around 5 PM every day, and every Chaoshan person can surely find the taste of home here.
