Have you travelled over the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge when visiting Macao or Zhuhai? Now, apart from taking a car to the bridge, you can also take a walking tour to hit the spot!

On 15 December, the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge (HZMB) tour was officially opened. Hong Kong, Macao and Mainland residents can join a tour to visit the bridge, which will take about 140 minutes from the Zhuhai Port to enjoy the scenery of the Lingdingyang.

What are the must-see attractions? Let's take a look together.

Blue Dolphin Island: China's First Marine Bridge Museum

One of the highlights of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge tour is none other than the Marine Bridge Museum on Blue Dolphin Island.

You may be unfamiliar with the name Blue Dolphin Island, but in fact, it has another familiar name, which is the East Artificial Island.

Blue Dolphin Island is an artificial island closest to Hong Kong, on which is located the first museum of sea bridges in China, which is modelled on "oyster shells" and contains nine different thematic exhibition halls. Through technological models, audio-visual-electricity multimedia technology, mechanical matrix light sculpture dynamic display technology and panoramic experience, the museum tells the story of ancient and modern Chinese bridges.

Moreover, there is a science exhibition hall displaying the construction process of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, with a situational reproduction of the "needle through the seabed" scene of the bridge's submarine tunnel. This is a great opportunity to experience the world's longest sea bridge up close.

The three featured navigable bridges

On boarding the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge (HZMB), apart from visiting the technologically advanced Sea Bridge Museum, there are also a number of hitches waiting for you on the way to the Blue Dolphin Island!

The Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge has 3 navigational hole bridges, namely, the "sail" shaped Jiuzhou Bridge, the "dolphin" shaped Jianghai Bridge, and the 'Chinese knot' shaped Qingzhou Bridge.

The designs of these bridges have profound meanings.

Jiuzhou Bridge is a navigational hole bridge near the Zhuhai and Macao ports on the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge. The most conspicuous are the two bridge towers on the bridge. Inspired by sails, they symbolize "sailing far and smoothly".

The Jianghai Bridge is located in the middle section of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge. There are 3 "dolphin towers" on the bridge surface.

From a distance, it looks like three large dolphins jumping out of the water. The unique design symbolizes "harmonious development of man and nature", advocating the protection of dolphins and environmental concepts.

Finally, the Qingzhou Bridge, is a navigational hole bridge located near the Hong Kong side. It is also the most distinctive part of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge.

Qingzhou Bridge has two "Chinese knot" shape towers, the largest hole span is nearly 500 metres, and the main tower height is near 200 metres, making it the longest and tallest navigational hole bridge on the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge.

It's worth mentioning that the Lingdingyang sea area where the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge is located is the largest habitat for the "sea panda" Chinese white dolphins. If you're lucky, you might even encounter Chinese white dolphins frolicking in the water. That would definitely be a very precious and unforgettable experience!
