Chen Lu became China's first figure skating world champion

On March 11, 1995, Chen Lu (陳露) became China's first figure skating world champion.

The World Figure Skating Championships that year were held in Birmingham, UK.

With the soundtrack of the film The Last Emperor, Chen Lu successfully completed five triple jumps, ultimately surpassing competitors from France, the U.S., and Russia to become China's first figure skating world champion.

Chen is one of the most decorated amateur figure skaters of the 1990s, having won two Olympic medals, four World Championship medals, and nine national championships.

Another well-known aspect of Chen Lu is her performances in various competitions and shows, where she portrayed the leading female character from Butterfly Lovers, who dies for love and transforms into a butterfly. This earned her the nickname "Butterfly on Ice" from the audience and media.
