China's first private securities company inaugurated

On August 18, 2002, Minsheng Securities (民生證券), the first private securities company in China, was inaugurated in Beijing.

Minsheng Securities is a nationwide comprehensive securities firm, registered in Beijing, with a registered capital of CNY 1.282 billion.

The precursor of Minsheng Securities was Huanghe Securities (黃河證券), originally known as Zhengzhou Securities Company which was established in 1986. It was one of the earliest professional securities companies in the Chinese stock market.

After increasing its capital and shares in March 2002, Huanghe Securities decided to change its name to Minsheng Securities.

The private capital of Minsheng Securities constitutes more than 50% of the stock proportion, making it the first securities company in China to be dominated by private capital.

The China Oceanwide Holdings Group (中國泛海控股集團) is the largest shareholder, with an investment of CNY 240 million.
