Guangzhou Tropic of Cancer Landmark Tower completed

On August 19, 1985, the Tropic of Cancer Landmark Tower located in Taipingchang, Conghua, Guangzhou, was completed.

The Guangzhou Tropic of Cancer tower is 23.5 metres high, the same as the latitude number of the Tropic of Cancer, making it the tallest and largest of its kind in China and the world.

The entire tower fused architectural craftsmanship, painting, and sculpture into one, with a body shaped like a rocket pointing straight to the sky.

Even though the Tropic of Cancer crosses about 30 countries and regions, most of these places are deserts or remote mountainous areas, which are not suitable for building a tower.

The Tropic of Cancer spans over 2,000 kilometres within China, with the majority of it in Guangdong Province.

Interestingly, due to the unique geographical location of the Tropic of Cancer tower, there is a very conspicuous red line on the ground which is the Tropic of Cancer.

To the left and right of the red line are the subtropical and tropical regions of the Earth. If it happens to be noon at 12:26 on the summer solstice, the sun will be at the top of the tower, and people standing in the tower will not see their own shadows.
