Wu Minxia won China's 100th gold medal in Diving World Cup

On July 22, 2006, the "Diving Queen" Wu Minxia (吳敏霞) won the gold medal in the women's three-metre board final at the 15th Diving World Cup, which was the 100th gold medal won by Chinese athletes in this competition.

In the women's three-metre board final, Wu's main competitors included her national team teammate Guo Jingjing (郭晶晶), and the reigning champion, Russian athlete Yuliya Pakhalina.

Despite a significant error in her fifth dive, Wu Minxia won the championship with a total score of 373.40 points based on her excellent performance in the first four dives, outperforming Yuliya Pakhalina, who had a stunning performance in her final dive.

After the competition, Wu admitted that she didn't know much about the 100th gold medal beforehand and only heard about it from others.

She also stated that she was very happy to win the 100th gold medal for China in this competition, especially since the final score difference with the runner-up was less than one point, "The win was somewhat unexpected, and I really just won by a bit."
