On July 1, 2021, President Xi Jinping declared at the ceremony celebrating the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the Chinese Communist Party that the CCP achieved its "first centenary" goal of establishing a moderately prosperous society in all respects.
Xi Jinping stated on the day that China has comprehensively built a moderately prosperous society, historically resolved the issue of absolute poverty, and is energetically progressing towards the second centenary goal of fully building a modern socialist country.
As of 2020, China's gross domestic product reached 101.6 trillion yuan (CNY, the same below), and the per capita GDP has exceeded 10,000 US dollars for two consecutive years.
The "Two Centenary Goals" was first put forward in the report of the 15th CCP Congress, with the goal of doubling the gross domestic product and per capita income of urban and rural residents compared to 2010 by 2021, the 100th anniversary of the founding of the CCP.
By 2049, the 100th anniversary of the establishment of China, to build a rich, democratic, civilized, harmonious, and modern socialist country, reaching the level of a moderately developed country.
As for the "Xiaokang society", it was originally an economic and social development concept proposed by Deng Xiaoping. It was formally quoted at the 13th CCP Congress, and achieving a moderate level of national living standards by the end of the 20th century was set as the second step of the "three-step" strategy.
After the 18th CCP Congress, when Xi Jinping took office as President, "comprehensive construction of a moderately prosperous society was adjusted to "fully building a moderately prosperous society", with development goals set in five areas: economy, politics, culture, society, and ecology.
