An opportunity has arrived for those who want to attend popular undergraduate programmes of Shenzhen University in Hong Kong!
Shenzhen University's Hong Kong College has officially issued the 2024 Manual for Independent Admission of Hong Kong Students. This is the first time they are recruiting Hong Kong students for the undergraduate major in "Internet and New Media" programmeme under the School of Media and Communication.
This programme is of "National first-class undergraduate major" offered by Shenzhen University, giving more options for Hong Kong graduates who want to continue studies in China.
Shenzhen University's HK College in Telford Plaza, Kowloon Bay
The Hong Kong College of Shenzhen University, under the management of Shenzhen University, offers a bachelor's degree programme taught in Hong Kong.
It is registered under Section 10 of the 'Non-local Higher and Professional Education (Regulation) Ordinance' (Chapter 493) by the Hong Kong Education Bureau.
The course is primarily taught at Minglishi College（明禮治書院）in Telford Plaza in Hong Kong over a 4-year period while some classes are required to be completed at Shenzhen University's main campus in Shenzhen.
According to the Shenzhen University official website, the main targets for the programme are students from Hong Kong and Macau. The syllabus, course setting, assessment as well as the award of qualifications and degrees are strictly under the rules of Shenzhen University.
"Internet and New Media" is of National First-Class undergraduate major
The "Internet and New Media" undergraduate major, which falls under the School of Media and Communication, is a key discipline in Guangdong Province.
Its ranking is 12th in China and 2nd in Guangdong Province, according to the Fifth National Discipline Evaluation conducted in 2020.
It is awarded as "National First-Class Undergraduate Professional Construction Site" (2020) and a "Key subject and characteristic major in Guangdong Province" (2019).
What does the programme offer?
According to the official website of Shenzhen University, the 'Internet and New Media' programme involves two professional research areas, namely "Audio-visual Communication" and "Internet Communication".
Internet communication focuses on "data mining", "new media design", "new media marketing", "user research", "health communication", and so on.
By integrating technology, market, content, it helps building up students' capabilities in new-generation media communication.
Audio-visual communication integrates traditional broadcasting industry with new media audio-visual resources, focusing on planning, research, filming, management as well as promotion of audio-visual content.
It aims at developing high-end talents in internet audio-visual, film creative, movie promotion, operation management arenes etc.
The most remarkable feature is, most of the courses have practical teaching sessions, with many platforms and new technologies available for practice.
It includes development of virtual simulation platforms, AR news newspaper training, VR interactive exhibition training and other experimental teaching modules.
Meanwhile, based on national competitions such as the "Big Advertising Contest" and "National College Computer Design Contest", students can have the opportunities to practice, and to get things down.
Students are primarily pursuing their studies in Hong Kong over a four-year period, and some classes are required to be completed at Shenzhen University’s main campus in Shenzhen.
But for those who want to study and participate in exchanges at Shenzhen University’s main campus can apply to study in Shenzhen for one semester or one school year.
Upon the successful fulfillment of graduation criteria at both institutions, students will receive a bachelor’s degree and a graduation certificate from Shenzhen University (SZU).
