Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China was established in Shanghai

On May 11, 2008, the Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China, Ltd (COMAC) was established in Shanghai.

COMAC is a state-owned enterprise approved by the State Council and composed of seven shareholder units. It primarily engages in the design, research, and production of civil airplanes and related products.

The registered capital is 19 billion CNY, and its headquarters is in Shanghai. COMAC aims to become a civil aircraft manufacturer with its own intellectual property rights and international competitiveness, taking the main responsibility for China's large civil aircraft program.

C919, the latest narrow-body airliner developed by COMAC, is also China's first domestically produced large airplane.

The C919 successfully completed its maiden flight on the afternoon of May 5, 2017, at Shanghai Pudong International Airport, and received the Type Inspection Authorization issued by the Civil Aviation Administration of China on November 27, 2020.

This indicates that the aircraft's preliminary design is basically in place, the aircraft structure has been essentially verified. The confirmation of the requirements of each system and the maturity of the verification can ensure the safety and effectiveness of the certification test flight.
